Mr. Byrd is excited to be joining the team at Jones Middle School as an Assistant Band Director! He will be teaching the Concert band in addition to beginning trumpet, trombone, euphonium and tuba classes.

Mr. Byrd is originally from Prosper and graduated from Prosper High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Texas Christian University. While at TCU Mr. Byrd studied trombone with Dr. David Begnoche and was the principal trombonist of the Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra and Jazz 1. Notably, he performed with the TCU Trombone Choir at the International Trombone Festival and was a featured soloist with the TCU Wind Symphony. He was also a four-year member of the TCU Horned Frog Marching Band where he served as a section leader and Drum Major.

Outside of teaching, Mr. Byrd enjoys going to the gym, cooking, collecting vinyl records and photography.

Mr. Byrd is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association and Kappa Kappa Psi.
